Fact.MR recently conducted a Q4 2024 survey of 500 stakeholders in the detergent polymers industry across the United States, Western Europe, Japan, and South Korea. They identified specific regional trends in primary industry segments. The participants were manufacturers, distributors, and end-users, all sharing perspectives based on their regions.
All around the world, sustainability was widely recognized as an imperative, as 79% of stakeholders reinforced the need for biodegradable and environmentally friendly polymers. In the U.S., high-performance, toxin-free detergent formats were noted to be of interest to two-thirds of the participants (65%). Western Europe pioneered the way on this front, as 72% of stakeholders dwelt on the low-emissions product. This is consistent with the stringent regulations in the EU to minimize its environmental footprint.
South Korea and Japan shared a preference for cheaper and lighter polymer formulations, with 58% of South Korean and Japanese respondents indicating they preferred cheaper and space-saving alternatives. This being said, fewer (32%) Japanese stakeholders are investing in future-oriented, intelligent polymer technologies based on fears related to high return on investment (ROI) expectations.
